Expectations Under Crisis: Finding Hope in the Workplace

So, you’ve chosen to live a life of connecting within your workplace. But what can you expect when life breaks down and the wheels fall off?

Let’s be honest—I won’t sugarcoat it. The world is full of pain and suffering. Such conditions exist whether or not a person follows Jesus Christ. People endure self-inflicted consequences, face daily medical conditions, and carry both physical and emotional burdens. They deal with difficult people and walk through horrible situations—often without knowing the Lord.

According to Scripture, Christians should not be surprised when these things happen. In the early church, believers lived under intense political and religious pressure. Imagine their anxiety, knowing persecution could come at any moment. Scripture teaches us that we, too, will face similar struggles. In many parts of the world today, persecution for being a Christian still exists.

What the Bible Says About Crisis

Here’s the good news: God promises to be with us even when life doesn’t go well. He does not promise to remove every hardship, but He promises to walk with us through them.

We are called to share scriptural answers and our own testimonies of how God has worked in our crises. Non-believers need to see that while Christians experience the same problems—illness, stress, broken relationships, and disappointments—we face them differently, with hope in Christ.

God promises never to let us face more than we can handle (1 Corinthians 10:13). Sometimes He delivers us out of problems; sometimes He allows us to go through them to teach us life lessons. These lessons, though painful, can bring blessings from an Almighty Father.

Life Lessons in Crisis

God’s Word is true, authentic, and reliable in every situation. In times of crisis, He invites us to call upon Him. Paul reminds us in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that our weaknesses become the very place where Christ’s strength shines most clearly:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

That means we don’t have to hide our struggles from coworkers. In fact, being honest about our weaknesses can point them to the God who sustains us.

When others watch you face trials with faith, patience, and peace, they see a living testimony. They see the difference Jesus makes.

A Witness in the Workplace

Your coworkers may never pick up a Bible, but they will watch how you respond to life’s breakdowns. They will notice if your faith gives you strength in crisis. Non-believers and new believers alike need to know that Jesus Christ promises never to allow anyone to face more than they can bear—if they will only believe and rely on Him.

There is no reason for anyone to go through life without hope. That’s why God places us in workplaces and communities—to demonstrate how Christians handle stress, trials, and tribulations differently. Through your witness, others can see that crisis is not the end, but the beginning of God’s strength at work.

Key Takeaway

Crisis will come—but so will Christ. He promises His presence, strength, and guidance. As you live out your faith at work, your coworkers will see the difference Jesus makes in facing life’s toughest challenges.

Be blessed, until next time…
